Hi friends! My name is Stephanie also known as Steph.Scapes on Instagram. By day, I'm a planner/purchaser at an oil and gas manufacturing facility and run a small paper shop online on etsy part time. By night, I spend a lot of time around my plants and a handful of aquariums at home.

My main interest is plants: Indoor house plants to be specific. Initially, this interest started when I read about the benefits of having plants to help with mental health. I am a big mental health advocate and plants have helped me on my mental health journey immensely. I now have more than 30 plants in my home and the collection continues to grow but I digress.

The aquariums around me started to grow in numbers as well and my interest in aquatic plants and aquascaping escalated. While I'm fairly new to the aquascaping world, I've been very lucky to be surrounded by an infinite amount of knowledge and support in regards to aquarium maintenance and planted tank start ups which catapulted me into my very first aquascape.

Above is a photo of my 18 Gallon that was started in December of 2020. Currently I am using the Chihiros WRGB II and have a CO2 kit setup neatly tucked away and hidden from view. This is my first scape and the goal was to understand how to balance the tank in order to make the plants flourish and stay happy. I also like to run a snail-free tank so learning how to balance the tank to stay algae free without the help of our little invertebrate friends as the common go-to cleanup crew was also a goal for this aquascape.

While being surrounded by a copious amount of plants and diving into the aquascaping world, it only seemed fitting to tie all this into terrarium designs as well. Most of my terrariums are currently of the smaller scale from mini jars to the current flask design you see pictured above.

My goal in this hobby is to be able to help brand new plant owners who think they kill all plants achieve their green thumb in plant care and also be able to share and provide information to help brand new aquarium keepers bridge the gap from plastic tank to planted tank while facilitating a positive and friendly environment.

If you are new to the aquarium or plant world, I welcome you to contact me with any inquiries in regards to how to start in these hobbies. You can find me over on instagram @steph.scapes
